Daniel is the Director of Bands for the Narragansett School System, where he teaches grades 5-12. In addition to teaching in the classroom, Dan is also an active member of the Rhode Island Music Education Association, where he has managed several RIMEA All State Ensembles, and served on the Executive Board for three years. Dan is an active performer and is currently the principal trumpet of the American Band of Providence and a member of "Hey Nineteen", a Steely Dan Tribute band.
Jenny is a freelance professional trumpeter, arranger, and music educator. She performs throughout the Ocean State, zipping from Watch Hill to Newport to Providence to Kingston. Jenny is a founding member of the Queen's River Trio and was a soloist with the South County Chamber Orchestra and the Providence Adult String Orchestra. Some of her favorite musical memories include improvising musical theatre at the Contemporary Theatre, playing trumpet as the Ghost of Christmas Future, and playing for various wedding services. Jenny currently teaches music in South Kingston, which she loves.
Reverend Dr. Jean Simpson is the heart of the Block Island Sound Quintet, and has performed with various major symphony orchestras in the United States as well as abroad. In addition to her symphonic work, Jean loves playing with brass quintets, and has organized over a dozen (!). After 37 years of service, Jean has retired from her position as pastor and regional conference minister with the United Church of Christ. She resides with her Carin Terrier Gracie in South Kingston, RI.
Down Beat Award winning trombonist Tyler Barboza has dazzled audiences across the United States with his fiery tone and eccentric compositions. Mr. Barboza has performed at both the Monterey Jazz Festival and the Newport Jazz Festival, as well as alongside the Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra, the Pro Música Chamber Orchestra, the Jamie Cullum Big Band, and the New England Brass band. His mentors include: Gabriel Langfur Rice, Benjamin Griffin, Steve Weist, and Warren Deck.
A native of East Bridgewater, MA, Collin Tyrrell is a multifaceted bass/tenor trombonist based out of Boston. With nearly two decades of musical experience under his belt, he has performed with orchestras, chamber ensembles, and big bands throughout New England. An avid lover of new music, Collin has commissioned several works for bass trombone and electronics, and joined several consortiums for brass quintet pieces. Collin has a Master of Music degree from Boston University where he studied with Gabe Rice.
